ATLAS: Investing in African agri-food systems to achieve global development goals
Monday, 20 January, 2025, 18:00-19:30 CET
With strategic and targeted investments, Africa’s agrifood systems could close 30–50% of global SDG gaps, addressing the needs of billions while fostering sustainable growth and resilience. Yet, the sector receives less than 3% of global development funding, and accounts for only 5% of total investments in Africa across public, private, and development funders.
Recognizing this urgent need, the Paris Peace Forum launched ATLAS (Agricultural Transitions Lab for African Solutions), a collaborative platform bringing together 30+ major institutions aimed at advocating for an increase in investments in African agriculture, aligning investment priorities, and enhancing accountability through anInvestment Barometer.
At Davos, ATLAS will announce the 2×30 Challenge, a bold call to action urging global funders to double investments in Africa’s agri-food systems by 2030, increasing annual funding from $50 billion to $100 billion.
