Fighting for Our Future: Youth & Climate Education

Young people are our future, and can help us tackle climate change, if they have the right education and support. Research has shown that if just 16% of secondary level students in developed countries received mandated climate education, it would reduce emissions by 19 gigaton by 2050 and if 100% of students in developed countries received curriculum climate education the emissions impact would be greater than that of wind and solar combined. A new study also shows more than half of young people say climate change makes them feel afraid, sad, anxious, angry, powerless and helpless, but young people lack access to services to address their mental health. How can we work together to support young people to learn how to tackle climate change, for themselves and the world, both now and in the future?
