8 Harvests to 2030: Moving from Food System Commitments to Action for Africa

2021 was a big year for commitments to ensuring good food and sustainable prosperity for people and planet through the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) in September, COP26 in November and Nutrition for Growth Summit (N4G) in December with almost 700 food systems and nutrition commitments and over 27 billion U.S. dollars in investment. We need to move fast on delivering on these initiatives, in the face of rising food insecurity, geopolitical and global health shocks, population growth and climate change. Without serious action, the food security, health and lives of millions of Africans are in jeopardy.

In this session, leaders of food systems commitments and key stakeholders vital to delivery will discuss opportunities and challenges in implementing commitments in in support of country-led national pathways for food systems transformation. How do we ensure coordinated action to achieve the scale needed to transform food systems in support of SDGs? Initiative leaders will outline different approaches and discuss how to collaborate and coordinate between initiatives for scale . Government leaders, heads of multilateral institutions and private-sector leaders will discuss effective models for multistakeholder collaboration on delivering on National Food Systems Pathways.
